Over a century of Italian-American cooking on Arthur Avenue — the street New Yorkers have called the real Little Italy since 1919.
Mario's opened at 2342 Arthur Avenue in 1919, when the Bronx's Italian neighborhood was at its height. More than 100 years and four generations later, the restaurant is still run by the same family, still serving the same Sunday gravy, still using the same recipes.
Arthur Avenue is the real Little Italy of New York. Mario's is its table.
The menu is classic Italian-American: veal scallopine, Sunday gravy, linguine alle vongole, osso buco. Nothing here chases trends. The dishes have been on the menu for decades and will be on it for decades more.
